ONE FOR M'LEARNED FRIENDS? Parishioner Val Jennings: I don't know whether any Fleet Street/Canary Wharf hack has thought of this yet, but if Heather Mills' lawyers need any corroboration of this week's unsavoury claims, they need look no further than one of Paul's own classic songs. If one takes the middle eight of "Getting Better" at face value, he's a serial offender! Exhibit A: I used to be cruel to my woman / I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved / Man I was mean but I'm changing my scene / And I'm doing the best that I can
ONE FOR THE PURISTS From the desk of parishioner Danny Baker: These are truly magical times through which we journey. On tonight's "Grrr-Damn You Modern World X-Factor show it was a "Hats Off To the Genius Of Rod Stewart" special complete with a typical "OK, Suckers, you've got me for exactly twenty minutes now where's the bloody cheque" appearance - briefly on tape - from Ol' Warts'N'All Rodders himself. So what "Rod Stewart" classics were the wannabes covering to the usual orgasmic studio managed applause? Cindy Incidentally? Stay With Me? You Wear It Well? Even "Do You Think I'm Sexy Rod Stewart & That?" No...the refugees from a cruise shipline up gave us Try A Little Tenderness, I'd Rather Go Blind, Bring It On Home To Me, What A Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong not Sam Cooke), This Old Heart Of Mine. Every one of them pure by and from the pen of Rod. Well done everyone!
ROCK STARS IN FAST FOOD OUTLETS Parishioner Peter Jenkins: In the early 80s (sorry forgotten the exact year) I was part of a 5 a side team going to a competition in Birmingham. We stopped in at a "Little Chef" on the way to refresh ourselves and five minutes after were amazed when John Taylor of Duran Duran strolled in with a young lady on his arm. How did we know it was John Taylor - simple HE STILL HAD HIS STAGE CLOTHES ON AT 9am !! And boy did he look tired !!!!
